Subject [NEWS] NXP releases HS-CAN transceivers with higher EMC and ESD performance Date 10.05.11

Compatible with OEM specifications, the new TJA1043 enables increased
system performance and reduces total system cost

NXP Semiconductors today launched the new TJA1043 - a next generation High
Speed-CAN transceiver with significantly improved ElectroMagnetic
Compatibility (EMC) and ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) performance levels.
The TJA1043 is the most advanced stand-alone HS-CAN transceiver solution
providing power supply control for the entire node. Designed and developed
in collaboration with key automotive OEMs and suppliers, the TJA1043
exhibits fail-safe features, network diagnostics and wake-up source
recognition. Extending NXP's existing portfolio that includes the widely
used TJA1040, TJA1050 and TJA1041A and the newly released TJA1042 and
TJA1051, the new transceiver enables vehicle manufacturers to push down
overall network costs while driving up system performance, quality and
reliability.

With the electric system of a modern car getting increasingly complex, the
automotive industry faces new challenges in lowering energy consumption.
Built on the latest automotive OEM specifications, the TJA1043 provides a
solution for the automotive manufacturers to control the electrical load.
It exhibits very low ElectroMagnetic Emission (EME), enabling reduced
network ringing and allowing choke-less operations. The TJA1043 also has a
very high ElectroMagnetic Immunity (EMI) along and state of the art ESD
protection. It has very low power consumption and demonstrates passive
behavior when the supply voltage is turned off. These combined performance
characteristics ensure that the vehicle operates as designed without being
affected by its anticipated electromagnetic environment.

By developing this new and enhanced generation of HS-CAN transceivers,
NXP is supporting the increase of electronic applications in the car. As a
leading automotive supplier, NXP is committed to design and develop
products that are greener, safer and more reliable while keeping the system
costs low. Building on 15 years of in-vehicle network (IVN) developments,
we offer a complete transceiver portfolio covering key automotive network
standards,
said Toni Versluijs, Senior Director and General Manager
CAN/LIN Transceivers, NXP Semiconductors.

Complementing NXP
s HPMS (High Performance Mixed Signal) strategy, the
TJA1043 is designed for high-speed (up to 1 Mbit/s) CAN applications in the
automotive industry. It is a step up from the TJA1041A High-Speed CAN
transceiver. Major enhancements include

* Improved EMC and ESD performance

* 24V support for truck applications

* Reduced quiescent current consumption

Fully ISO 11898-2 and ISO 11898-5 compliant, the transceiver has been
qualified to Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) standard Q100 and is
suitable for use in automotive applications. The transceiver is housed in
an environmentally friendly, RoHS-compliant package and does not contain
any halogenated flame retardants (known as Dark Green).

With more than 30 products, NXP has the broadest transceiver portfolio in
the market and supplies millions of transceivers to over a hundred direct
customers every week. Such a broad customer base coupled with high volume
production enables a sustainable supply and ensures that customers will
benefit from NXP's long-term commitment to increase productivity and
quality.
